Light and void

Magnum Photos

Paris/Montmarte

The legendary cooperative and photo-reporters agency, Magnum Photos. Created in 1947 by Robert Capra, Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour, George Rodger and William Vandivert Magnum is the first collaborative association of photographers created to defend both the copyright of photographers and transparency in communication. A former automobile tire repair workshop located in the heart of Montmartre, with three floors and an irregular floor plan distributed around a central court, covered with a large old skylight, was transformed into an archive of negatives, an open workspace for collaborators and a meeting and workspace for member photographers of the agency. The remodel was carried out with the founding spirit of Magnum and that of my own practice: the direct participation of the author in the realization of the work.
