Serre di Rapolano
Sometimes I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to reduce an intervention to the form closest to a thought, that is, to something imperceptible and materially only demonstrable through what already exists. In any case, the work of imagining, choosing, placing and ordering is always carried out in each project but never with greater success than when the result achieved is immediately archaic. This is the case of the Oliviera's entrance, which is an emotion more than a project. Choosing the unique and wonderful pieces of travertine block bark and waiting to gather enough to cover a piece of land. Villa la Oliviera, residence of the owners of the historic Rapolano travertine quarries, is an old convent located at the top of a hill of which its only remains are the cuts through its soil converted into perfectly smooth, modern and magnificent travertine wall architecture.
