Inside Out-Finissage Installation -Piazza Sant' Agostino-Rome
The Angelica Library was founded in 1604 as the first public library in Rome. Initially designed by Borromini as part of the Augustine Convent his design intended to make it play part of the piazza's re design, an integrated composition between Saint Augustine, renaissance adjacent church, and the facing Collegium Germanico. A finissage piece created for the exhibition Beyond Books and named Inside Out was installed outdoors projected over the facade of the church, on the evening of the closing day. A ghost of the never realized Borromini's intention of making the Library's design reflect its purpose, thus an explicit urban piece directly related to the piazza, and the church its central compositional axis. A bespoke piece by sound artist Giuseppe Lelasi was performed.
